About Lamad Academy

We Are Creating Pathways to Brighter Futures

Every day, Lamad Academy proves what is possible when scholars are supported, encouraged, and challenged to reach their fullest potential. Our school was built to ensure that children from our community have access to high-quality education, strong relationships, and enriching experiences that prepare them for success in school and in life.

Where Vision Meets Community

A School Rooted in Love, Legacy, and Opportunity

Lamad Academy was founded with a commitment to transform lives through education. Our work is grounded in a belief that every child deserves a school that knows them, supports them, and pushes them to excel. Inspired by deep community roots and a legacy of service, Lamad Academy was created to uplift families by expanding access to meaningful, high-quality educational opportunities.

The story of Lamad begins with a desire to serve communities that shaped our leadership’s early years and continue to inspire our mission today. This purpose guides every decision we make, every classroom we build, and every scholar we empower.

A Leader Guided by Faith, Service, and Community Commitment

Rev. Al Cockfield’s Vision for Lamad Academy

Rev. Al Cockfield founded Lamad Academy as a pledge to the families and neighborhoods that shaped him. His vision for Lamad is rooted in gratitude, community pride, and a belief in the limitless potential of every child. He describes Arverne — the community of our next campus — as “a place that shaped my early days and continues to be part of who I am.”

This personal connection inspired his dream to bring a school to Arverne that honors its history while preparing future generations for success. Rev. Cockfield sees Lamad Academy as “a homecoming of dreams,” where children are supported academically, nurtured socially, and empowered to pursue big futures.

His leadership continues to guide our mission, culture, and deep commitment to educational excellence.

Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Lamad Academy’s mission is to provide a structured, supportive, and engaging academic experience that helps every scholar grow with confidence. Through rigorous instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and caring relationships, we empower students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe every child deserves access to high-quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a community-centered school where scholars are known, valued, and inspired to succeed. We aim to create a safe, enriching environment that nurtures curiosity, strengthens core academic skills, and prepares students for success in high school and beyond. Rooted in legacy, service, and opportunity, Lamad Academy strives to develop confident learners, compassionate leaders, and future-ready young people who uplift their families and communities.

A Strong Foundation for Every Scholar

High Expectations. Strong Support. Transformative Results.

We believe that scholars succeed when schools combine rigorous instruction with genuine care. At Lamad Academy, teachers set ambitious goals, provide structured lessons, and deliver consistent support to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our academic model emphasizes:

• Strong foundations in literacy, math, science, and social studies
• Technology-enhanced learning and STEM exposure
• Differentiated instruction that meets diverse learning needs
• A structured, supportive environment that builds confidence
• Teachers who build meaningful relationships with scholars and families

We are committed to helping every child become a confident learner and leader.

Building Schools That Reflect and Uplift Our Neighborhoods

Building Schools That Reflect and Uplift Our Neighborhoods

Lamad Academy is more than a school. It is a community anchor built on trust, collaboration, and shared responsibility. We work closely with families, community organizations, and local leaders to ensure our scholars receive the support they need to thrive.

As we expand into Arverne, our commitment remains the same:
Create spaces where children feel valued, families feel welcomed, and learning opens doors to brighter opportunities.

Lamad Academy aims to create confident, capable students who are ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Through rigorous academics, technology integration, and enrichment, scholars develop the skills they need to thrive in high school and build meaningful futures.

The Next Chapter: Lamad Academy Arverne

The upcoming Lamad Academy Arverne campus represents the next step in our mission. Designed to serve the next generation of scholars, this new school will provide high-quality academics, enriching programs, and a community-centered environment that helps students grow with confidence.

It is a continuation of Rev. Cockfield’s promise — to build a school that honors the past, serves the present, and prepares young people to lead the future.
